Cost of Studying in The UK

Tuition fees differ for international students depending on the type and the length of course, you are pursuing.

While courses in Business Studies, Medicine, and Engineering are normally more expensive, those in Social Sciences, Humanities, and Art are cheaper than that.

Cost of living in UK

On average you would need at least £12000 per annum to shield the cost of basics such as accommodation, food, and travel.

This cost can be different, depending on where in the UK you will live, with London being knowingly more expensive.

As a student, you can enjoy some discounts, on giving your ID card, which will help you save money during your time in the UK. Part time jobs are also a route to ease the financial strain of living abroad.

Employment in UK

If you hold a Tier 4 (general) visa, you are permitted to work up to 20 hours a week during the course of your semester and full-time during holidays. However, to do so, you must achieve the following requirements:

  • You must be a student at a public-sector university

  • You could be a student in a short-term program

  • You are above the age of 16 years

  • You are registered in an NQF level 6 and higher course.

In case your passport or visa does not license you to work in the UK, breaking the law can have serious penalties, which may lead to your deportation.

If you are finding a part-time job, it is wise to regularly check your campus placement cells, or with restaurants and eateries close to your accommodation, as they often hire students. If you are lucky, you might even plot a job on the campus itself.

Intakes in the UK

Universities in the UK mostly follow a Two-Intake system; however, a few have a third intake as well, which is as follows:

  • Intake- 1 September to December
  • Intake- 2 January to April
  • Intake- 3 April to June

The September intake is the most popular among Pakistani students, however subjected on your course, January and April are also good available options.

Student Visa Requirement for UK

As an International student, the government of the UK permits you to study in a country, as long as you have a valid student visa.

Tier 4 (General) Student Visa

This visa is issued to students above the age of 16, who have a definite seat at an educational institution in the UK. This is allowed to those students who have confirmed admissions in an educational institution in the UK without a valid Tier 4 sponsor.

In all visa categories, we recommend applying at least three months before your travel dates and arriving the UK at least 30 days before the start of your course, if its duration is longer than 6 months.

In order to be eligible for a Tier 4 student visa, you must qualify for certain requirements:

You must have spotted a confirm seat at an educational institution with a licensed Tier 4 sponsor.

Provide proof of funds for your education and living expenses.

Be skilled in speaking, writing, reading, and understanding English.

In directive to apply for a Tier 4 visa, you need the following documents:

  • A valid passport
  • proof of funds for your study and other expenses
  • Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) reference number and the documents used to get the same
  • Passport-sized photographs
  • Assessment documentation
